About Kruti Patel, South Asian Therapist in Oakland, CA
As the daughter of immigrant parents, I understand the challenges of navigating mental health stigma within family and community. It can feel isolating and painful. I have seen how therapy can be an opportunity to explore your life experiences, reconnect with yourself, and finally feel seen and heard. It creates space to discover a path to a more meaningful and fulfilling life with freedom and authenticity.
My work is focused on the lived experiences of adult children of immigrants. These experiences affect how we show up and navigate relationships, engage in work and school, how we make decisions and navigate major life decisions like pregnancy and parenthood. The stories we carry may not always be ours alone, and my hope is that therapy can help your voice find its way through.
For over 19 years, I’ve provided psychotherapy and art therapy to individuals, couples, and families throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, with a strong focus on trauma therapy. I’ve had the privilege of working with multi-generational, cross-cultural, and diverse families, and I continue to deepen my knowledge in perinatal therapy, somatic-based approaches, and art therapy.
When I’m not working, I’m practicing at a ceramics studio, reconnecting with friends, or playing with my two young kids and partner on a playground or hiking trail.
